Founded by former first lady Lady Bird Johnson and actress Helen Hayes, the National Wildflower Research center was officially renamed the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in 1995. This 279-acre botanical garden exclusively displays plants native to Texas and “exists to introduce people to the beauty and diversity of wildflowers and other native plants.” – www.wildflower.org
The center features various gardens including the 4.5-acre family garden with more than a dozen family friendly interactive features to choose from. Explore art exhibits, walking trails, or climb to the top of the San Antonio Observation Tower for a breathtaking view of the Wildflower Center.
The Wildflower Center hosts myriad events throughout the year, including Spring and Fall Plant Sales, and Christmas Luminations. Or, host your own event – from weddings to birthday parties, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is a beautiful backdrop!
Located just 10 miles from downtown Austin, the Wildflower Center is just a stones’ throw from one of the city’s largest master planned communities, Circle C Ranch. Circle C includes more than 4,800 homes, two swim centers, a fire station, two elementary schools, as well as 500+ acres of dedicated parkland. Ride your bike to HEB or various dining and entertainment options including Alamo Drafthouse.
But, Circle C isn’t your only option – this area of Austin is home to numerous neighborhoods to suit every need and budget. Contact me today to learn more!
