One of the most prized natural treasures in Austin, the Barton Creek Greenbelt is considered to be the 7th best hiking trail in Texas. In addition to hiking, the greenbelt is also filled with trails for biking and trail running, several swimming holes when the creek is full (typically seasonal in the Spring), as well as climbing on the limestone bluffs along the trail. At 7.9 miles long, the greenbelt is also home to several endangered plant and wildlife species.
An oasis in the city, the Barton Creek Greenbelt is located within city limits in southwest Austin. The easiest access point is the Loop 360 entrance, where Hwy 1 (Mopac) and 360 intersect. Run errands at Barton Creek Square mall and then head for a hike – the 360 access is just minutes from shopping and entertainment.

There is an abundance of unique Austin neighborhoods within your reach from the 360 entrance of the Barton Creek Greenbelt. From Lost Creek where you can enjoy private golf, tennis, fitness, swimming and social amenities as a member at Lost Creek Country Club, to the relaxed residential area of Travis Country – you can definitely find what you’re looking for in SW Austin.
